As a director at Avertim, you lead strategic initiatives and build lasting client partnerships while driving transformation programs across industries such as life sciences, banking, insurance, energy, and transport. The director's role combines strategic decision-making, team leadership, and deep industry expertise with a strong consulting mindset. By aligning transformation programs with the client’s strategic vision, Directors help drive sustainable impact. They act as a trusted advisor, coaching consultants, and contributing to Avertim’s growth and thought leadership.

Hi, I'm Karst-Jan, Director for Avertim since 2022.

As Country Director for Avertim in the Netherlands, I lead our operations, manage client projects, drive business development, and oversee a growing team. Since I joined, our team has expanded from 8 to around 30 people, reflecting strong momentum and increasing complexity. My focus has evolved toward strengthening our “advise and solve” capabilities and expanding our client portfolio. We’ve also implemented the engagement manager role, which has enhanced how we deliver value to clients. I take pride in building a diverse team and seeing how each new member shifts and enriches the team dynamic.

Being a consultant is at the core of what I do, and I enjoy helping both new and long-standing clients solve meaningful challenges. At Avertim, everyone is expected to act as a trusted advisor, regardless of their position. I work closely with the team to ensure high-quality project delivery that meets client expectations. Our success in the Netherlands is strongly supported by being part of the Avertim group, initial client wins came through cross-border collaboration. In turn, we now contribute by leading innovative projects in areas like sustainability, marketing, and sales.

I emphasize the importance of connecting with the broader company—through group trainings, onboarding, and shared events, to build a sense of unity. Compared to my previous experience in smaller settings, the collaborative culture here allows everyone to grow and contribute. What makes us unique is our position between strategy and operations—offering not just advice, but implementation alongside our clients. With our recent Dali Strategy and growing expertise in areas like AI and BPM, it’s an exciting time to shape the future with our clients. We’re only getting started, and the impact we can make together is what drives me every day.
