On May 15th, Avertim had the pleasure of hosting an exclusive event in collaboration with TD Synnex & IBM, bringing together business leaders, C-level executives, and experts to discuss a critical topic: 'AI Governance and Security for Optimized Growth'. Held at the beautiful Fosbury & Sons in Boitsfort, Brussels, the event offered a unique opportunity for learning, sharing insights, and networking.
The evening featured talks from three renowned experts who brought diverse perspectives on the strategic and operational aspects of AI:
- Benjamin Docquir, Partner and Head of the Brussels IP/IT Department at Osborne Clarke, opened the evening with an insightful session titled "What boards need to know to navigate AI legal risks." He emphasized the increasing importance of robust legal frameworks in the development, governance, and implementation of AI technologies. In his talk, he highlighted the crucial role board members must play in overseeing the ethical and compliant deployment of AI within organizations, stressing the need for proactive engagement with regulatory requirements and potential liability issues.
- Michel van der Poorten, Senior Business Partner Specialist for Partners at IBM, followed with his presentation 'How to scale your AI with confidence?'. He shared best practices and real-world examples on how organizations can move from pilot initiatives to enterprise-wide AI strategies while maintaining control and trust.
- Saskia Van Uffelen, Manager Future Workforce and Ambassador of the Be The Change initiative at Agoria, concluded the speaker session with a keynote titled "How AI can help the C-Level get through challenging times?" She emphasized the human side of AI adoption, highlighting the importance of mindset, culture, and adaptive leadership in navigating technological transformation. Her talk reinforced that successful AI strategies depend not only on technology, but also on people and purpose.
Following the speaker interventions and Q&A session, guests enjoyed a relaxed and vibrant networking moment over food and drinks. This informal setting encouraged open conversations and cross-industry exchanges, enabling participants to connect on shared challenges and opportunities surrounding AI governance and security.
The event gathered over 30 high-level professionals, including CIOs, COOs, CSOs, and other decision-makers from across various industries. It successfully fostered dialogue on AI’s most pressing issues and reinforced the value of strategic collaboration in shaping responsible AI use.
Avertim warmly thanks all speakers, participants, and our partner IBM for contributing to this impactful evening. We look forward to continuing the conversation and supporting our clients on their AI transformation journeys.
